Well we all know the community is all about sharing sims that its members have either created or bred in game. And then installing what we download from others into our games to create stories, or play challenges with. But in order to extract or package a sim, you first need to know how to do it in a way that wont create issues for someone else's game when it's installed. I've noticed there have been a few people sharing.package files from SimPE extraction.
This is not good; they cause issues in the games they get installed into. Body Shop makes the packaging process take a bit longer, but it means it that all the necessary data is embedded with the shared Sim. This tutorial shows how to package a sim that is born in game & how to correctly package it, as well as how to include its custom content should you wish to. First of all, you need SimPE. In order to run SimPE, you will need to have Mircosoft's.NET framework 2 installed in Windows.
You can get that, or alternatively, you should be able to select it in your Windows Update choices. I find the direct link is quicker =P Ready to go? Born in Game Sim Extraction Open up your SimPE. In the top bar menu, select Tools, Neighbourhood & then Neighbourhood Browser. There will be a pop up to select which neighbourhood you want to open, select the one that the sim you want to extract is in. This will take a little while. The program is loading every single character file in that neighbourhood, complete with genetics, relationships, memories & skills etc etc etc.
There's a little green load progress bar at the bottom left of screen which you can watch while you attempt patience =P When it's loaded, go back up to the tools menu. This time go Neighbourhoods, Sim Surgery. Sim Surgery is a pop up box. On the left is a column of sim image thumbnails, sorted alphabetically by first name. Scroll down until you find the sim you want to extract (you can jump to the start of a letter by pressing it on your keyboard). Single left-click the image of the sim you want to extract.
On the right hand section of that box is the blue word ' Use'. With the image of the sim highlighted, left-click that word. The image of the Sim you are exporting will now be displayed on the right hand side above the word 'Use'. You'll see that the word ' Export' is now blue & clickable. Left click 'Export'. Name the exported file something that you will remember.
You're best to change the file name as leaving it with the original name may cause Body Shop to crash & fail (thanks ). This is being saved into your 'Saved Sims' folder in My Documents/EA Games/Sims 2 & will be readable by body shop. IMPORTANT NOTE: The.package file created by SimPE is only good on the same computer it was extracted from. This is because instead of embedding the complete data about the sim you exported, it has created internal links & references to the relevant places in your personal My Documents folder on your PC.
Installing these files onto a different machine will create problems for that game. Not a good idea. takes needle off broken record grins So in light of this information, we move ever onwards (as we can't find reverse).
Body Shop: Cloning & Packaging And so we enter the Body shop section of this tutorial. If you don't want to package your sim with any custom content, you can skip the cloning step. But if you want to package it with hair (& mesh), clothing etc, then you will need to complete the full tutorial below.
Open the Body Shop for the most recently released Expansion Pack you have installed. The same body shop as the EP you run to play the game. Select Build or Clone Sims. Your saved sims folder & other installed sims will be loaded. My PC makes a wicked groan as it loads all of them (it would roll its eyes too if it had any) - there's a lot of goodness in there.
There is the Sim we extracted with SimPE a moment ago. Single left-click the sim & then left-click the ' Clone Selected Sim' icon on the bottom right. Exit back to the build or package menu. Select Package Sims. The sim we extracted is in the loaded list twice.
If you want to package the custom content with your Sim, select the newer one (the one in the top left corner) by single left-clicking the sim's image. With that sim selected, left click the ' Package Sim to File' icon on the bottom right. Name the file. I tend to use the Sim's name (which in this case is my name) so that I can keep track of their files easier. If you want, fill in the description field too.
The description will be viewable to anyone installing this sim via Body Shop (though I've noticed not when installing via clean installer). Your extracted Sim has been saved to your desktop. Now you can zip/rar/7z it & upload it to your hosting server & share your evil genius wonderful creations with the world!
She'll terrorise your neighbourhood! Lock your doors & windows. Grab your torch & pitchfork! Journalists are evil & all photographers are terrorists!! grins My dvd burner died so I cant make space on my harddrives to process photographs (I have roughly 65gb to get through). So essentially, I'm on enforced holidays until I replace it =P Yeh most of the ones I grabbed were missing back of their skulls. It looks rather.
The worst bit was that those were some of my favourites that I was all excited about installing. It's up to you if you package them with BS, though I'll admit yours are the ones that are missing the back of their skulls in my CAS =( I don't know how badly it breaks it, unless its keeping things like memories etc from the SimPE file. I'd need to sit down for a thorough read on their forums & then break down the code myself. Which I'm now heavily tempted to do just for the sake of knowing. If nothing else, packaging them in BS means that they show up in other people's games looking similar enough to the pictures given that you can tell who they are. Most of yours are fairly obvious when you bring them up with faces, but not everyone's are.
One or two may be fine, but with the number of shared sims in this comm sitting over the 700 mark I figure Fate is being sorely tempted =P. I have a questions. I've downloaded a few sims from pixeltrade members that, when I tried to install them, gave me this error: I've successfully installed sims from people who have EPs and stuff packs I don't have, so I assume this error means something else. Is it that they're packaged with clothes/hair/makeup from other EPs?
Sims 2 Clean Installer Download
If so, why doesn't the game just put them in the default Maxis clothes, like it does when you don't have the right CC? One reason I'm concerned about this is, a friend has been trying to get some of my sims to work, and they're not showing up in her game. I'm wondering if it's because she doesn't have the same EPs and stuff packs. But I'm pretty sure I packaged all mine with clothes from the base game and very early EPs. I also have this trouble with lots-sometimes (often) they don't work for me. One friend made me a set of really interesting houses for my space station, and I can get them in the game, but as soon as I go onto the lot they crash my game. She has EPs I don't.
Sorry for the barrage, but these are perplexing questions to me, I don't get why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't!:p. Packaging bodyshop sims I think is the same. However, extracting sims born in game sims for packaging isn't techincally possible on a mac in so far as I know. Either copy your neighbourhood to cd & take it to a friend's house with the same (or higher) install as you (on windows), swap neighbourhoods (make sure you make a backup of theirs before you do this) & use SimPE, following the tutorial above.
Then you can use the, which is the Mac version of clean installer (thanks ) to install packaged sims into your game. Or you could run windows on your own machine through a program like bootcamp, or parallels, with SimPE on that partition. Failing that you might be lucky enough to have a member here or on be willing to help you via the net. However you would need to find an online host able to hold your (preferrably rar'd) neighbourhood & someone with a monthly download quota that allows it as well as the spare time to get the sim(s) you need to grab. Hope that helps. Okay, so on paralells I've installed SimPE and copied over my neighbourhoods folder to the correct corresponding file structure. I've extracted three sims and am now up to your ZOMGIMPORTANTNOTEDONOTIGNORETHIS So I decided to install bodyshop on parallels.
Only the problem is that it keeps crashing no matter WHAT I do. Bear in mind I'm just making guesses here as I haven't had a mac since.
Bodyshop will probably be crashing as its the mac version & the file structure is different. Lets make a backup of your 'hoods before we go any further with this (copy your neighbourhoods folder somewhere like your desktop or burn it to cd) just in case. It shouldn't screw up the game as you aren't putting.package files from someone else's system into it, & the data that it points to should all be there. It's more putting the.package file into someone else's pc that breaks things. Give it a go. There's only one way to truly find out & if you make that backup first you've got nothing to lose =). That would depend on your operating system.
But if you're on windows, download yourself a copy of a program such as Winrar & install it. Then you just right click the file & tell it to 'add to archive' from the menu. To upload the file to a hosting server, you'd need to have an account with Box.net, Esnips or something similar (there are more details in the community profile, including links). You follow their instructions - they depend on your site. Anything evil genius related you'll have to figure out for yourself. My plans are my plans & I'm not telling you incase one of the good guys overhears & they foil them again!!!!
Sims2Pack files are sort of like Sims 2 archive files - they can contain multiple files within them. Sims2Pack files can contain:. Lots and related content (objects, walls, recolours, and sometimes sims and possibly even harmful or incompatible hacks). Sims and related content (skintones, clothing, hair, and sometimes meshes). Pet breeds. Walls, floors, and groundcover.
To install Sims2Pack files, double-click on them. If you have just the game installed, it will bring up the game's installer to install your content. These things you double-click to install.
There are a few different programs that can install Sims2Pack files. Which you choose to use is up to you: Installing Sims2Packs with the Body Shop Installer There is an installer that comes with the game that will automatically install pieces of content one at a time. If you haven't installed any other programs, this is the one you will be using.

It does not let you choose what contents of the Sims2Pack file to install, and you must install each Sims2Pack file separately, which can be tedious if you have a lot of them. If you do not have Clean Installer and would like to use the Body Shop installer to install your content, double-click on a Sims2Pack file. You'll see a window like the one below. Click Install and it will install your content. Click OK to close the window. Your Sims2Pack is now installed.

Installing Sims2Packs with Clean Installer Clean Installer is a user-made program that you can download for free and use to install your content. It will allow you to choose what parts of a Sims2Pack file to install, so you can remove any unwanted hacks or other undesired content, but it will still only install one Sims2Pack file at a time. If you would like to use Clean Installer, you will need to download and install the program. You can download Clean Installer from its official site.
If you have Clean Installer installed and you would like to use it to install your content, double-click on a Sims2Pack file. Clean Installer will come up and display a list of the included content. You can uncheck the box to the left of any undesired content to keep it from installing with the rest of the files. To install the selected content, click Install (A). Another smaller window will come up with install options.
Click Install on this smaller window to install your content to the default location (B). Clean Installer will automatically detect where the content should go, and install it to the right location. If you get any warnings saying 'File already exists, do you want to overwrite it?' You can probably click Yes. When the content has finished installing, you will get a message telling you it has been installed. Click OK, then click the X at the top right of the Clean Installer window to close Clean Installer.
Your Sims2Pack is now installed. For links to download Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer, how to install it, and how to use it, please see:.
If you are having trouble installing Sims2Pack files. If you are getting an error with the Body Shop Installer saying 'This content requires Expansion Pack data that is not installed'. If you are trying to install a lot, double-check the expansion pack requirements for the lot.
You MUST have any expansions listed as required for a lot to work in your game. If you are trying to install a sim, or you are sure you have the required expansions for a lot and you are still getting that message, get and install Clean Installer (linked above) and use it to install your Sims2pack files instead. Click Next: to continue. Back to: Categories: Search: Installing Sims2pack files.
It doesn't seem to work for me. It'll load the package and it's contents but when I go into the game the house doesn't appear. I thought at first it was because wasn't selecting the family that goes with the house but even when selecting everything in the package it didn't show up. I'm testing this on my own houses so I know it's not just the houses from other countries don't work problem. Could it be the fact that my game isn't installed to the default directory that's causing this?
The lot shows up with unknown for a description if that has anything to do with it. It looks like it's going to be a great program once I can get it to work. Phervers 22nd Nov 2004 9:46 PM. Ohh, this is just SO GREAT!!!.thumbs up. I have just tried it out (I downloaded the.NET framework too) and it seemed to work great, I download a lot of sims from the Exchange and often I only want a piece but have to download and istall the whole sim.
I compared the files in this program with the files that are named at the Exchange and assumed that it would be in the same order.;-) In this case I wanted the hair, so I unchecked all except for that file and voila - the hair is installed in the game!!:-D Maybe I was just lucky.LOL. But I also have a big problem. Looked at one of my lots and there are several unknown objects.:-( How could I found out what it is.?
Darkmoon 22nd Nov 2004 9:58 PM. Here is a new tool for those who download a lot of custom content.
Hi phervers, A very good idea. And a very good idea, to code the hacks as textfiles.

But it didn't work for me. I have net (for SimPE and working) on my WIN98 SE system. After installing it has associated the Sims2Pack with your programm, but it can't be found, even when I choose the folder. I renamed both folder and prog to SPCI, left click on Sims2Pack and chose open with and assigned SPCI to it.
Now it starts, but the interface is empty. I clicked install anyway and the app crashed.Gonmag BitzyBus 22nd Nov 2004 10:08 PM. Hey Thomas thanks for feedback, if there is no confirmation that Files successfully installed then try to donwload again. If it's not the case you could try to watch your Teleport folder while installing your packages. It is in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Teleport If no files appear there something must be wrong. It's hard to tell anything without more information.
I get the files installed successfully message and 6 new files appeared in my teleport folder dated with the time and date. There were 6 files 5 Sims2tmp files and 1 Sims2import file. After I ran the game to check to see if the house was there, the Sims2import file vanished. Since other people seem to not be having problems with it and I'm assuming they're using the the default directory. I'm gonna try doing an uninstall/reinstall later on to see if that fixes my problems. DawnKeeper 22nd Nov 2004 10:22 PM. Well there's a bug with houses showing up anyhow.
I sometimes have to install them 4 or 5 times before they show up in the lots bin and I always have to install them one at a time, go in the game and check if it's there, etc or else most won't show up. This is a great program. I've been looking throughall the lots I downloaded and am quite shocked how much extra stuff is has stowed away with the file.
I think this whole sims2pack business was a bad idea. I want direct access to my files and to know what is being put where. If it's not to much trouble, Phervers do you think you could add a feature to extract the selected files to a specified directory and maybe a feature to delete package files from a sims2pack or to repack them with only the package files we select?
Phervers 22nd Nov 2004 10:46 PM. Thomas: that looks like if the pack you are trying to install is already installed, or or i dont know, if u could try to install it with default installer, and compare files, or just send me this package to [email protected].
Enga ooru pattukaran mp4 video songs free download. DawnKeeper: well it depends, it should install, but if it's some kind of object like alienware your game might just crash when installing game. Though it seems that such objects are ObjectModeResource, erm just try Everyone: i messed up again, stupid C# builder removed all my events, so you will have to download that again to see file name and description for individual files. Phervers 22nd Nov 2004 11:04 PM.
I am having some trouble installing lots, from a.Sims2Pack file. I've watched a few tutorials, and once the file is extracted, it's double clicked and The Sims 2 Installer pops up OR the person is using Sims2pack clean installer. After I extract the file using WinRAR, it doesn't look like what I've seen in the video with an icon. It's just a white file with the.sims2pack extension. I double click it and the File Association Helper menu pops up. The installer isn't coming up at all.
I went to the Origin games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Fun With Pets/SP9/CSbin & the Package Installer is there, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I used to play this game when it was first out, I never downloaded any custom lots, so this is brand new. If anyone can provide some insight that would be great. If Norton is removing it as unsafe, meaning placing it in quarantine, DO NOT INSTALL IT! That means it's probably actually unsafe and best to not take a chance. Download it from the link I gave you.
If it still does that, then it might just be an overprotective antivirus. But don't install unless you got it from the link I gave you. Not necessarily.
Norton's is notorious for finding false positives. I refuse to use it on my system. I use AVG instead. The funniest moment for me was when I disabled Norton's for the first time and installed another anti-virus program (might have been Avast, I can't remember), and I ran the program. It attacked the disabled Norton's and claimed that NORTON'S was a virus! Before installing an anti-virus programme, any previous installed anti-virus programmes should be removed and not disabled, followed by re-starting your computer.
I know I received a prompt to do this as my computer had pre-installed Norton. Going back twelve or so years ago, AVG allowed me to install their free anti-virus ware even though I had an anti-virus programme installed - so therein lies the problem. It is not recommended that computers have two anti-virus programmes installed - try googling the web for more information. I did that YEARS ago. I'm just saying, that's what happened when my current anti-virus program did its first scan.
I am WELL AWARE of what can happen if you try and use more than one anti-virus program. I wouldn't let Norton anywhere near my computers now.
I think it was Norton (could have been another) that wouldn't let me install zoo tycoon many years ago, claimed the.exe (disc install) was a virus.rolls eyes. I had to turn it off and then set it to never look at the zoo tycoon files when scanning, after finally getting zoo tycoon installed. The point is that yes, sometimes anti-virus programs are stupid. Back when I lived in Germany, I bought a game called Singles. Well, it was actually riddled with malware.
Norton did detect it and remove it, thankfully. I haven't used norton in ages, probably since the early 2000's. I use malwarebytes to scan what I download or executables. I've actually been burned with some sims software before. People who reupload something and stick in their malicious code. So.I'm pretty careful about that.
My point is I wouldn't use AVG; it does not alert you to any other anti-virus programme installed and ask you to remove it. I hope you are WELL AWARE of what can happen if you try and use more than one anti-virus programme. Glad to read that your problem is resolved. Yes, I am well aware of what can happen, which is why I don't use Norton's and wouldn't touch it with a fifty-foot pole. AVG has caught quite a few viruses and disabled them over the years just fine. I used Avast until Avast started having problems which is why I switched to AVG. Never had an issue since.
